Hello. I'm Jack, or Wasp, and have been tinkering of late with noise, ambient sounds, drones, sundry effects and what have you, usually in conjunction with manipulated recordings of myself and friends (who'll be credited accordingly) playing various instruments. Everything I do is done with the utmost amateurishness, and an openness to serendipity; that's to say, I haven't really a clue what I'm doing, but it's fun. I've been doing this for a while, but I'm only recently starting to look for ways of combining this with my words (writing's my main pursuit), so hopefully that's going to evolve as I progress. It'll tend to be spoken word, often with voice manipulation (I'll aim not to overdo that).
In terms of the sound, at time of writing I'm probably leaning towards the likes of John Cale, Brian Eno, No Wave music, with some occasional quasi-industrial tendencies. Carny sounds and queasy sounds, with liberal doses of the sinister, tend to bring me a (not so secret) delight.
In terms of words, traditional songs and folklore are very important to me, and writers from Blake to Dylans Bob and Thomas, Tom Waits to James Baldwin, Buffy Sainte-Marie to Lydia Lunch. I've always been bad at distilling my influences...
